"All that man needs for health and healing has been provided by God in nature, the Challenge of science is to find it."

~ Paracelsus

Ever since we stepped into this amazing world of herbalism, we have found ourselves celebrating life as a ceremony. Each day brings new adventures and each day wraps up with a promise of new discoveries and exploration with the following sunrise. The field of herbalism is quite vast and it can take you a lifetime to understand and learn the bounties of nature.

We often come across several questions about how we started this exciting journey. It wasn’t easy for sure but it wasn’t impossible either. It was quite overwhelming at first, given the vastness of the field. But with time and perseverance, you can move even the mountains too.

Today, we are going to share two of our favorite books that helped us get started with herbalism, and we still look up to them when we find ourselves tangled.

Shannon always finds her peace in The Gift of Healing Herbs: Plant Medicines and Home Remedies for a Vibrantly Healthy Life, written by an honorable urban herbalist Robin Rose Bennett. The book portrays the real-life narrations of an herbalist, based on decades of clinical experience. The text of the story-mediated events can take you out into the world of plant wisdom, with 180 recipes and remedies written passionately to equip your brain with the knowledge you can easily disseminate too.

Matt’s favorite book was The Herb Book: The Most Complete Catalog of Herbs Ever Published (Dover Cookbooks), written by John B. Lust. It is a comprehensive reference book that has its content divided into three parts. The very first section contains the introduction, historical information, and a guide on how to use the book. The second section encompasses the compendium of herbal medicine while the third part focuses on the applications and herbal preparations of the plants listed. This info-packed book has helped us a lot with starting our journey and still comes in quite handy when we find ourselves stuck and need quick info about any particular plant.

Both of these in-depth treasure troves are available on Amazon and you can easily get your copy to incorporate them into your learning process. They can be a great addition to your bookshelf and every time you open it, you are bound to celebrate the vibrancy of herbal heritage.
