During the summer months, many people recognize the necessity of keeping their skin healthy. The one area that most people neglect, however, is their lips. One of the most sensitive areas of the body, the lips should not be forgotten. In July’s Out of the Woods Apothecary Box, we made sure to remember these delicate little features and included a Pink Lemonade Lip Balm that you definitely want to check out. Though they contain varying degrees of SPF protection, they do definitely keep your lips moisturized, healthier, and more protected from the sun.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am pretty obsessed with lip balms. I am not much of a lipstick gal, but I love a sweet tasting, super moisturizing lip balm to keep my lips super soft all the time. We decided to take the natural skin protectant in organic red raspberry essential oil and blend with the smoothing effects of organic coconut oil and organic shea butter to create a soothing, enlightening blend of summery loving for your lips.
Though we can’t specify just how much sun protection you’ll be loving from our lip balm, we can say that there is some in there. All of our key ingredients – the red raspberry essential oil, coconut oil, and shea butter – include their own versions of Skin Protectant Factors. Generally speaking, coconut oil offers around 2-8% SPF and shea butter is usually around 3-6%. The real wow factor lies within the red raspberry essential oil. That generally contains between 28 and 50% sun protection. Regardless, this lip balm smells great, tastes awesome (not for an afternoon snack, of course!), and makes your lips feel pampered.
