Oh my gosh! I just love summer. Each morning, rain or shine, I wake up feeling super refreshed and eager to start my day. I love watching the morning sunlight peek through my blinds and scoping out the scene of the newly blooming plants on my daily hikes. There is no doubt that my love for the summer months has inspired our Out of the Woods Apothecary Box for July. I can proudly say – without hesitation – that this is my favorite box yet. If you haven’t already ordered yours, keep reading. We’ll have you hooked in no time. If you have already indulged in our fresh treats this month, please share with us how they’re working for you!
Though Matt and I do most of our gardening out back, I was definitely inspired for our Basil Infused Olive Oil by good friends of ours. They grow their basil potted, right on the pathway to their front door. In the summer months, it’s impossible to reach their house without grabbing an aromatic whiff of some fresh basil. After infusing some of our own fresh basil in organic olive oil, we created what I lovingly coined “summertime in a bottle”. I know I’ll love it on more than just my tomato salads, and I sure hope you’ll love it, too!
In addition to our infused olive oil, we’ve included four other summertime products to treat both your bellies and your bodies. After foraging some fresh dandelions in the spring, we soaked some for about 8 weeks in some vodka and created our dandelion root tincture. A dose or two of this natural detoxifier will have you feeling like summer in no time! We also added some skin protectants with our natural After Sun Spray and Organic Pink Lemonade Lip Balm. The spray, made with some aloe and essential oils, will leave your skin feeling relieved, refreshed, and softened after a bit too much sun, and the lip balm, created with coconut and shea butter mixed with some essential oils will leave your lips silky smooth, moisturized, and protected all summer long.
Finally, I sure hope you caught a glimpse of the strawberries Matt and I picked fresh right from Alstede Farms (a great find in Chester, NJ, in case you’ve never been!). We picked SO many and came home with more than enough to enjoy both right now and freeze for the winter months. After picking those strawberries and finding some rhubarb ready to go in our own garden, we mixed in some organic honey and whipped up our first no-sugar-added strawberry rhubarb spread. I am already hooked on this versatile summer goodie, and I simply cannot wait to hear if you love it as much as I do. Again, there is not much that makes me happier than being able to eat and feel as fresh and free as possible. I hope you love July’s Apothecary Box just like I do. Remember, if the whole box isn’t for you, you can purchase any of the products individually in our market. And don’t forget to send us your reviews of your favorite products!
