What is a Sore throat?
A sore throat is a painful feeling of dryness, scratchiness, or irritation in the throat that unfolds a sharp stinging sensation when the person swallows. The most common causes for the emergence of a sore throat are viral infections, bacterial infections (strep throat), pollution, tonsillitis, smoking, allergic reactions (from pets, mold, pollen, dust, and mites).
Symptoms of a Sore throat
Sore throat is itself a symptom of various other diseases but depending on the cause, some of its symptoms are
- Pain in throat
- Dryness and scratchiness in the throat
- Inflamed tonsils
- Difficulty in swallowing
- Hoarseness in the voice
- Pus in the tonsils
